Photonics and quantum technologies play key roles in driving biotechnology advances in the international community. Finland’s photonics ecosystem is globally recognized for its innovative research and active collaboration with international partners, creating new opportunities across various fields, including biotechnology, biomedical imaging, and quantum technologies. As part of the European and global community, Finnish researchers collaborate not only with each other but also with partners in government and research centers around the world. In this session, members of the Finnish research community will discuss the state of biotechnology research within Finland and the benefits, challenges and opportunities in international partnership efforts. In particular, the session will highlight research interest in fields including quantum applications, advanced photonics, innovative biomedical imaging, and AI technologies.
