Defense laser technologies continue to advance, enabling transformative solutions ranging from directed energy systems for countering low-cost unmanned aerial systems (c-UAS), rockets, artillery, and mortars (c-RAM) to low-energy, low SWAP-C lasers in UAV systems for precision laser targeting and designation, power beaming, space communications and other range of other applications. Global security concerns necessitate that countries increase collaboration to utilize this full range of capabilities to support innovative features and functionality. This panel will convene international experts to discuss the current use of laser technology for security and defense purposes, the prospects moving forward, the performance and design needs of the community, and the challenges to be addressed in providing robust, reliable solutions.
