Conference registration fees may be waived for members of the working press who wish to attend to cover an SPIE event. To avoid delays in obtaining a badge onsite, we strongly encourage you to register in advance: you can request a press badge by emailing your name, contact information, title, and organization to media@spie.org . You will receive information for picking up your badge onsite once you’ve been registered.
Please note that by requesting and acquiring a press badge, press members agree to have their names, affiliations, and email addresses included on the registered press list which is shared – upon request – with conference exhibitors and/or speakers.
SPIE defines "working press" as reporters, writers, editors, publishers, photographers, and videographers who work for or produce publications, news services, broadcast outlets, or news websites that are published regularly and primarily for the dissemination of news, and who will be attending the event for news-reporting purposes.
SPIE reserves the right to deny a press badge to any person who does not regularly provide visible news coverage of science or technology, at the discretion of SPIE staff.
An onsite Press Room offering internet access, conference details, press releases provided by exhibitors, and refreshments, will be available for use by credentialed media at select SPIE conferences.
Contact media@spie.org for information or other assistance.
Conferences, courses, and poster sessions:
For copyright reasons, recordings of any kind – including photography – are prohibited without the consent of the presenter. News reporters may not capture nor use the presented materials from a conference room without permission from the presenter.
Exhibition Hall:
For security and courtesy reasons, press may not record interviews on the exhibition floor nor record or photograph exhibitor booth displays and/or products without explicit permission from SPIE and onsite company representatives. Individuals not complying with this policy will be asked to surrender their recording media and leave the exhibition hall.
