The inquisitive nature of young minds and the quest for thirst for knowledge in the eyes of the students whom we teach, inspires me the most to take up new projects in the area of Science and Engineering.
I started my career as an engineer in an optical fiber manufacturing industry. The biggest challenge I have faced in the industry was obsolesce of product, stagnation in position, uncertainty, insecurity, and lack of intellectual growth. However, after about fifteen years in the industry, my academic inclinations became indomitable and I started thinking of playing the second inning of my life, i.e., to switch over to Academia. Presently I am enjoying every bit of my teaching career with a full batch of enthusiastic and innovative minds at IEM and UEM. In the meantime, I qualified for the PhD admission test in the Department of Applied Optics and Photonics, University of Calcutta, from where I graduated, and am continuing research under Emeritus Professor L.N. Hazra. My area of research is the use of Walsh filters in imaging applications. Optics and Photonics have always enthralled me and will continue to do so in the future.
I believe that if one is to be honest, diligent, focused, and hardworking, there is no looking back. The words of the Indian spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda: “arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached”, is my inspiration. I would like to see everyone on this planet happy, to think and be concerned about the problems of others, and work together for a better cause. As an educationist, I would like to light up young minds with these thoughts, for they are the future.
