I have worked in the infrared camera industry since 1999. Currently, I am working as an independent consultant to the Aerospace industry under the business name of Oculus Photonics, where I also develop and sell semi-custom infrared and ultraviolet camera systems.
For most of my 22 years at FLIR, I developed radiometric infrared camera systems and long range multi-sensor camera systems for border security. My last year at FLIR (2021) was devoted to implementations of automatic target recognition systems for airborne infrared imaging systems. Before working in industry, I was a postdoctoral fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and my work was centered around AMANDA, a cosmic neutrino telescope at the South Pole.
