Profile Summary

Prof. Po-Tsun Liu is currently a Chair Professor of Department of Photonics, and Director of Display Research Center at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) in Taiwan. He has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in technical accomplishments, publications, and invention patents. He has garnered international acclaim for his noteworthy contributions to thin-film transistors (TFTs), and TFT-based functional devices/circuits, which are pivotal for advancing solid-state electronics in emerging fields, including current drivers, photo-sensors, nonvolatile memory devices, and monolithic 3D-ICs technologies. He published over 400 journal papers and conference proceedings, with over seven thousand citations. Also, Prof. Liu has more than 186 worldwide granted patents, many of which have been licensed to panel makers in Taiwan and landed in actual product applications. He was honored with the International Inventor Prize and the Lifetime Achievement Academic Award by Taiwan International Invention Award Winners Association, for his remarkable contributions to the field of invention.
Prof. Liu demonstrated technical leadership in the research and development of advanced solid-state electronics and flat-panel display communities and was elected IEEE Fellow, SID Fellow, OPTICA Fellow, and ECS Fellow in recognition of his unusual distinction in the profession and outstanding contributions to developing innovative thin-film transistor technologies for high-performance and power-saving heterogeneous integration of solid-state electronic devices.
