Non-mydriatic ultra-widefield optical coherence tomography retinal imaging with custom optics

27 January 2025 • 1:45 PM - 2:00 PM PST | Moscone South, Room 203 (Level 2)

Abstract

We present a novel non-mydriatic ultra-widefield optical coherence tomography (OCT) retinal imaging system, designed with custom-designed optics to enhance patient comfort by eliminating the requirement for pupil dilation. This innovative system effectively addresses the common issue of iris vignetting artifacts associated with conventional methods that require pharmacological dilation, thereby reducing patient discomfort and potential side effects. Our system achieves a 100° field of view with an exceptional lateral resolution of 20μm. Additionally, it maintains a notable working distance of 16mm, significantly longer by 2-3 times compared to existing ultra-widefield OCT imaging systems using non-contact imaging approaching with a similar field of view.
