Growth of large KDP and KD*P crystals to support ICF lasers (Invited Paper)

Abstract
Review the history of the development of the growth of large crystals of KDP and KD*P over the last 50 years to enable large aperture Pockels cells and frequency conversion optics to support lasers for inertial confinement fusion. Review current state of the art, and what will be required to continue advances.

Matt Whittaker is the crystal growth manager at Gooch & Housego Ohio. He is responsible for growth and fabrication of large crystal optics of KDP and KD*P. He is also responsible for growth of Lithium Niobate, Tellurium Dioxide, BBO and bulk II-VI compounds.
