Announcing new CiteScores and Impact Factors for SPIE journals.

BELLINGHAM, Washington, USA — Today SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, announced 2022 CiteScores and Impact Factors across its journal portfolio. Seven SPIE journals saw increases in their Impact Factors, while five saw a rise in their CiteScore metric. CiteScores are part of the Scopus database, owned by Elsevier, and journal Impact Factors are listed in Journal Citation Reports (JCR) from Clarivate Analytics. CiteScore and Impact Factor are both important citation metrics for STEM journals.

The 2022 CiteScores (first) and Impact Factors (second) for SPIE journals are as follows:

  • Advanced Photonics: 22.8 and 17.3
  • Journal of Applied Remote Sensing: 3.4 and 1.7
  • Journal of Astronomical Telescopes, Instruments, and Systems: 4.1 and 2.3
  • Journal of Biomedical Optics: 7.1 and 3.5
  • Journal of Electronic Imaging: 1.7 and 1.1
  • Journal of Medical Imaging: 5.7 and 2.4
  • Journal of Micro/Nanopatterning, Materials, and Metrology: 2.9 and 2.3
  • Journal of Nanophotonics: 2.7 and 1.5
  • Journal of Optical Microsystems: 1.6 (Impact Factor only)
  • Journal of Photonics for Energy: 4.3 and 1.7
  • Neurophotonics: 8.3 and 5.3
  • Optical Engineering: 2.8 and 1.3

This marks the first time that the Journal of Medical Imaging and the Journal of Optical Microsystems received an Impact Factor.
