Jenoptik-SPIE Photonics Technician Scholarship

Valuable support for students pursuing careers as optics and photonics technicians

The Jenoptik-SPIE Photonics Technician Scholarship is intended for students enrolled or planning to enroll in a laser, optics, or photonics technician associate or certificate program in the state of Florida.

Scholarship overview


Four $3,000 scholarships are awarded to support tuition and fees, textbooks, computer, or computer upgrade, and supplies and equipment needed for courses of instruction. Scholarship recipients will receive a one-year complimentary SPIE Student Membership.

Eligibility requirements


Students must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a laser, optics, or photonics technician associate or certificate program for the 2023–2024 school year at an educational institution in Florida.

Evaluation criteria


The key criterion in evaluation and ranking applications is the potential to contribute to the laser, optics, or photonics technician field.

A point system is used to score applicants on the following categories: recommendations, personal essay, and an overall score.

Applicants are required to submit information regarding their school and technician program, an academic transcript, resume, a personal essay detailing their motivation for becoming a technician and their career goals, and two recommendations.
