How to join the Slack Workspace

To get started, please take the following steps:

  1. Email students@spie.org for the Slack Workspace invitation and instructions about setting up two-factor authentication (2FA).
  2. Follow Slack's instructions carefully after clicking on the provided link.
  3. Add Slack desktop and/or phone apps (more user-friendly than web version).
  4. Carefully read the pinned welcome message in #1-welcome.
  5. Check out each channel and set notifications for the ones that interest you most.
    1. We suggest that everyone has notifications on for #2-news, as this is where important opportunities, scholarships and grant details, deadlines, or other pertinent information for students will be shared by SPIE Staff.
  6. Channel #5-mentorship is staffed by real live optics and photonics professionals who are here to answer any questions you have about your career development. Ask away!

This workspace is here for you, the students of our community. Make it your [virtual] SPIE home.
