How to join the Slack Workspace


To get started, please take the following steps:

  1. Email EarlyCareer@spie.org for the Slack Workspace invitation and instructions about setting up two-factor authentication (2FA).
  2. Follow Slack's instructions for two-factor authentication (2FA).
  3. Add Slack desktop and/or phone apps (more user-friendly than web version).
  4. Carefully read the pinned welcome message in #1-welcome.
  5. Check out each channel and set notifications for the ones that interest you most.
    1. We suggest that everyone has notifications on for #2-news, as this is where important opportunities, grant details, deadlines, or other pertinent information for Early Career Members will be shared by SPIE staff.
    2. Channel #4-mentorship is staffed by real-live optics and photonics professionals who are here to answer any questions you have about your career development. Ask away!
