SPIE has been striving to enhance diversity and encourage inclusivity in optics and photonics for decades. Our annual planner showcases these efforts by shining light on women in the field who represent the international diversity and technical strength that embodies our community. The women in this year’s planner reflect the breadth of technical areas that is SPIE, from early career professionals through established leaders, from industry, academia and government, and from all over the world. Their stories are catalyzing a brighter future for women in optics and photonics.

This planner should inspire each of you to be a pioneer in your own environment and in your own unique way. I know how proud I was when I was included and I hope you will share our pride in each of the women you read about here. SPIE works hard to make our community and our events a welcoming place where we encourage our successes and our differences. I hope you will join me in building awareness and making SPIE a shining example of what we want the optics and photonics community to be: a place where equity, diversity, and inclusion are appreciated and where we mentor and support each other while applauding excellence.
