In-situ Sensor Cleaning with CO2 snow
Recent work cleaning of an in-situ quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) by an in-situ CO2 snow jet has shown the following: 1 - surface particle removal of micron and submircon particles from an in-situ QCM detector without its removal; 2 - the collected aerosol removal from the QCM crystal is over 99.9%; 2- consistent linear response times after repeated cleanings; 3- shorter cleaning times; and 4 - no need to remove the crystal for external cleaning for extended periods. Overall, this unit can operate for more than a month without demounting the crystals for cleaning.
