PG&O® Announces Double-Sided Optical Polishing
• New polishing equipment enables exceptional surface finish of optical substrates. Santa Ana, CA – Precision Glass & Optics (PG&O – www.pgo.com), a global leader in optical manufacturing and thin film coatings based on single-sided polishing for nearly 40 years, is pleased to announce new double-sided polishing (DSP) capabilities. The cutting-edge technology of the newly installed PR Hoffman 5400 double-sided polishing machine allows the company to polish parts in days, rather than weeks, providing customers with the highest quality products in the shortest possible time to meet the fast-paced demands of today’s market with unprecedented efficiency. The PR Hoffman 5400 DSP ensures sub-second parallelism and exceptional fractional transmitted wavefront error, for production of high-volume optics with unrivaled consistency, precision, exceptional dimensional accuracy and surface finishes on substrates such as Fused Silica, BK-7, and other materials. The machine balances internal stresses within materials, minimizing the risks of warping or deformation for optimal consistency and repeatability on substrates up to 250 mm diameter. According to PG&O’s president, Dan Bukaty, Jr. “PG&O is committed to pushing the boundaries of the possible in polishing technology. Our investment in the PR Hoffman 5400 double-sided optical polishing machine reflects our dedication to innovation and our mission to provide our customers with the highest quality products in the shortest amount of time. Whether you require high-precision optical components, semiconductor wafers, medical devices or aerospace parts, this advanced DSP technology allows us to deliver optical components with excellence, reliability, and expediency in every batch.” To learn more about PG&O’s complete turnkey optical solutions for operation from 0.2 µm to 15 µm, please visit: www.pgo.com. To request a quote, please send your drawings or specifications to info@pgo.com. ABOUT THE COMPANY: Precision Glass & Optics (PG&O®) – www.pgo.com - PG&O provides reliable and cost-effective, high-precision polished optics and prisms from 0.040 inches up to 30 inches diameter, precision thin-film coatings, custom and standard components, and turnkey optical solutions for operation in the 0.2 µm to 15 µm wavelength range. The company also offers highly durable sapphire optics for broad-spectrum applications and finished infrared (IR) optics fabrication services for mission-critical tasks. The company’s recently acquired PR Hoffman 5400 double-sided polishing (DSP) machine permits us to deliver parts with remarkable dimensional accuracy and superior surface integrity. Whether you require high-precision optical components, semiconductor wafers, aerospace parts or medical devices, our new DSP capability ensures unrivalled surface quality and consistency in every batch. Our extensive glass substrates inventory combines with our expanded polishing services, and other fabrication capabilities such as CNC machining, slicing, sawing, scribing, edging, and assembly, to deliver finished optics and precision thin-film coatings. Ask about our unique re-polishing services that can salvage fabricated thin-film optics. This can save an optics manufacturer time and money by replacing a dielectric coating that has been damaged or does not meet the specifications. We have two large coating chambers and an expert, in-house engineering staff to assure continuity and supply optical solutions to meet the vital demands of military, aerospace, biomedical, imaging, laser, avionics, digital cinema, life sciences, solar, display, homeland security, automotive, and emerging markets. From simple optics and plano optical components to complex shapes, precision and multilayer thin films, intricate assemblies, and custom optical design solutions, PG&O is your key supplier. # # # Precision Glass & Optics (PG&O®) 3600 West Moore Ave. Santa Ana, CA 92704 Contact: Dan Bukaty Jr. Phone: 714-540-0126 i E-mail: info@pgo.com Web Site: www.pgo.com SUBMITTED by Media Contact: Marlene Moore Smith Miller Moore Phone: 818-708-1704 www.smithmillermoore.com info@smithmillermoore.com
